OUR MAGAZINE GOES LIVE – Inspiration from Women Entrepreneurship and Education

We are delighted to launch the first of our bi-annual magazines, dedicated to Women Entrepreneurs in Regional Inclusive Entrepreneurial Ecosystems (WeRin).

As a group of academics and practitioners passionate about entrepreneurship, we aim to make entrepreneurship education and support programmes more inclusive for women. Our debut issue titled, Women Entrepreneurship and Education brings you face to face with the WeRin formula to explain the motivation and vision behind our project and our extensive plans over the next three years.

We start with the evidence base as we preview important research aimed at exploring the current state of research on women entrepreneurship in higher education, gender inclusivity, and the inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem. What brings this research to life is a focus on five trends in female entrepreneurship being realised in the German ecosystem of North Rhine-Westphalia.

It is fitting that our first magazine puts a spotlight on some fascinating women graduate entrepreneurs and change-makers based in the Netherlands. You will be inspired by the evolving story of Melanie Rieback (Radically Open Security), who co-founded the world’s first not-for-profit computer security consultancy company. Melanie shares with us her sage inspiration and advice.  Social entrepreneur Marian Spier (IAMarian and FEM-START) brings us through her entrepreneurial journey with two companies and we truly admire her original quote on not giving up, “Sometimes you have to go through the window if the door does not open”.

Our forward-thinking European initiative would not be possible without our team of 14 dedicated partners who are ambitious about increasing the share of female graduate entrepreneurs. In this issue we meet a selection of them including a Science-to-Business Marketing Research Centre in  FH Münster University of Applied Sciences (MUAS, Germany),  University Industry Innovation Network’s (UIIN, the Netherlands) and Momentum  (Ireland). These profiles give you a good insight into the scale of our project and the work we are undertaking.
